The old chestnut, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, has never evoked the laughs, the tears and the holiday spirit more profoundly than the benefit held for Neighbors in early December.
The magnificent St. Paul Hotel bedecked in holiday splendor, the creative genius of the acting troupe, and the genuine love in the hearts of the audience blended to share a wonderful experience with each other and to share their generosity with northern Dakota County families who need a helping hand this season. Guests arrived in pairs, in clusters, as guests of their employer or simply to enjoy a night of entertainment in support of a good cause.
Actors Phil Callen and Jim Cunningham are superstars who have created an amazing following in the Twin Cities. The have shared similar evenings with Neighbors’ supporters for five years…and fans keep coming back for more. The talented and energetic cast somehow convinced us that there were scores of characters up on that stage.
David Miller, General Manager of the St. Paul Hotel welcomed the crowd and stayed around to help award a generous check to Neighbors. A hit of the evening was a lively auction that featured a couple of eager bidders in hot pursuit of Number One Donor status. The auction alone raised $1200 for Neighbors.
Radio never sounded so good and an audience never showed their appreciation with greater gusto.
To all involved as players or payers or something in between, Neighbors owes a debt of gratitude for the opportunity to share with our clients during this holiday season. It’s a wonderful tradition!
